FULL RENOVATION OF AN APARTMENT IN MAJADAHONDA

Letting the light flood in

Francesca and Pedro contacted NALA to renovate their family apartment in Majadahonda. The property measured approximately 150 m² and already had a fairly functional layout: the partitions of three of the four bedrooms, as well as all three bathrooms, were kept in place.

However, the fourth bedroom was incorporated into the kitchen, and the entrance hall was removed in order to connect the existing spacious living room with the enlarged kitchen, which now comfortably accommodates both an island and a dining area.

To bring light into the corridor leading to the bedrooms, part of the wall adjoining the living room was removed and replaced with a glass partition. This not only increases the amount of natural light, but also introduces a new and interesting decorative element, designed together with our clients.

All the exterior carpentry was replaced with new aluminium windows with Climalit double glazing and thermal break, always seeking a window configuration that would maximise the entry of natural light.

The new large-format wood flooring replaces the old, damaged parquet and gives the apartment the sense of continuity between spaces that the clients were looking for.

All the interior carpentry is also new and finished in white lacquer, helping to eliminate the dark effect created by the previous wooden doors and wardrobes.

One of the highlights of this project is the use of bold colours, encouraged by the clients themselves.

In the en-suite bathroom, the clients were clear that they did not want neutral tones, but something more daring. After considering several options, we chose a striking black and white geometric floor, creating a strong contrast with the shower enclosure, finished in a vivid yellow.

In the kitchen, a large and cheerful island with yellow cabinetry makes a bold first impression as you enter the home, and works beautifully with the colourful, international decoration brought in by the clients, including paintings, chairs and other objects collected on their travels.
