FULL RENOVATION OF A GRAND CLASSIC RESIDENCE
Respecting the essence of the original home
Respecting the essence of the original home
This is a 300 m² apartment located on Paseo de Pintor Rosales, in a building constructed in 1935 on a corner plot with a curved chamfered façade, crowned by a pergola. This area is now what we refer to as the chamfered terrace — the true jewel of the home, with views over Parque del Oeste and Casa de Campo.
Tito, Carolina and Maribel contacted Nala Studio to renovate this unique property in Madrid. Although the initial brief involved simply replacing the exterior carpentry and updating the finishes, the decision was eventually made to bring out the full potential of the apartment.
To do so, the entire property was fully renovated, with the exception of the old pino melis pine parquet flooring, a valuable original feature that we decided to preserve. The layout was redesigned in order to update the home and adapt it to contemporary living. Given the apartment’s long, elongated floor plan, the new distribution was organised into three main areas:
A service area, comprising the kitchen, laundry room, service bedroom and service bathroom.
A central area, including the living rooms, dining room, entrance hall and guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
And a more private area, containing the bedrooms and the chamfered terrace.
Working closely with these clients was a real pleasure. The apartment had belonged to a relative of one of them, so we made every effort to respect the original essence of the home throughout the renovation.
The result is a truly unique and wonderful home.
